The pupils of the new Cook for Life course being run for S5 and S6 pupils this year expressed an interest in gaining knowledge of finances to assist them when going onto college and university. On the 28th August, four volunteers from Barclays bank ran sessions from their Life Skills course.
This gave the pupils a chance to speak to staff from different parts of the bank, wealth managers to branch staff and ask all sorts of questions about debt, savings and what to expect when managing their money in the future. The volunteers ran three activities in small groups, a quiz to gain knowledge, and two activities looking at money scenarios of young adults which allowed them to work out disposable income and then to put in place money plans to ensure the young adults could achieve a debt free situation or to achieve their dreams by saving.
A great partnership with real learning.
