Hanging Basket workshop

Earlier this month pupils from Hazlehead’s Academy and Primary visited Grove Nursery on Hazlehead Avenue where they took part in a hanging basket workshop. They were shown how to plant up the baskets using 3 species of flowers; petunias, geraniums and lobelia.  The baskets they planted were a tiny contribution to the 1000’s that will be displayed in and around Aberdeen City over the summer and as the gardener explained, will help in Aberdeen’s bid to win another Britain in Bloom award. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to help enhance the visual appearance of their local community and over the summer will be proud to say to their family and friends ‘I was part of the team that planted those baskets’.
