YPI – Raising Awareness of Local Charities

This year S3 pupils have been taking part in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) competition to raise awareness and funds for local charities. Pupils research their chosen charities and create a presentation that highlights the amazing services offered by that charity and how the funds can help continue the vital work that charities do in the Aberdeen area. Each class chooses a winning presentation and the winners then participate in an S3 competition to decide which presentation wins the grand prize of £3,000 for their charity.

This year’s winners were from 3MB and represented the charity CLAN. CLAN has offered a wide variety of cancer support services throughout the North East of Scotland including Orkney and Shetland for over 30 years. The winning team will now attend the YPI final event in Perth which will be a fun day out recognizing the achievement and hard work of winning groups from nearly 200 secondary schools across Scotland.
